I arrived at Hing Ham Bay & Sha-a-Chung at 8 P.M. of the 28th and left again at 6 P.M. of the same day.
The Starbour office was shut so that I could not obtain a clearance. I went out by the West as I was told to do so.
The Passenger Jane anchored at Deep Bay at 2 A.M. and left at 4 A.M. of the 29th. I anchored there because it rained and it was a head wind.
I then went to the Eastward towards Cape d'Aiguilar. After I had passed Stanley and was getting near Cape d'Aguilar, I saw a Mandarin boat (about 120 piculs) chase another.
This was about 4 o'clock P.M., I had no clock.
There were about 17 men dressed in red jackets, and some in cotton jackets in the Mandarin boat. The men were armed and they fired on the other boat.
I ran for the Bay at Cape d'Aguilar and beached my boat, leaving everything in her.
I then went to the lighthouse and landed. Some of the Mandarin men followed me after I had landed. They retired when they saw the passenger, my 3 men, and I had reached the Lighthouse.
The Mandarin men took my boat and everything that was in her and made for the Kowloon Customs Station. I waited in ...
